Rental assistance goes unspent; shopping scams; local sports; Dashing Through Downtown

Recent reports show hundreds of millions of dollars in rental assistance funds to Florida residents went unspent.

OUR Florida, the state-run program formed to distribute federal rescue funds, spent only 24% of the $870 million in federal pandemic rental assistance it was granted by Sept. 30 of this year. The state says it is working to distribute the funds.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville Area Legal Aid was recently granted $2.4 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to support legal assistance for low-income tenants at risk of eviction.
