Today is the deadline to register to vote in the next election, when Jacksonville will elect a City Council member who will fill the at-large group 3 seat, vacated by the late Tommy Hazouri. As one of the city’s five at-large members, the council member will represent all of Duval County in crucial decisions.

Jacksonville residents who care about issues like going to Downtown riverfront development, shopping at small businesses or recycling should be sure to vote to protect their interests.

Meanwhile, Republican Nick Howland is being called on to apologize after a video recently surfaced showing Howland at a candidate forum seeming to smile and approve of remarks calling former council member Hazouri a “Marxist” and celebrating the seat’s vacancy after his death.

Guest: Attorney Chris Hand, Florida constitutional law expert and co-author of "America, the Owner’s Manual."
