Today’s Media Roundtable discussed some of the top stories in the First Coast, including:

  • The Jags finally have found their new head coach, and it looks like there may be some progress on the team’s planned development of Lot J.
  • The debate over redistricting continues here in Jacksonville and around the state.
  • The political consultants who created the funding structure for the 2020 ghost candidate scandal in Florida are now in the midst of another election controversy. This is over possibly thousands of faked signatures submitted by the campaign that is trying to bring a casino to Jacksonville.
  • As Black History Month kicked off,  Jacksonville's Edward Waters University canceled all classes and activities Tuesday morning after an anonymous bomb threat.
  • Duval teachers are calling for increased COVID safety measures in schools after more COVID cases were reported in district schools in January than during the entire first semester of the school year.

Coffee talk
Fodor’s Travel recently named Jacksonville “One of the Best Coffee Destinations in America.” Jacksonville was listed 16th, out of the 22 other cities that were included. Heather Schatz, First Coast Connect’s senior producer and contributor to Edible Northeast Florida — not to mention our resident coffee aficionado — joined us with a taste of what makes Duval so special. She sampled coffee from local roasters including Vagabond Coffee Co., Bold Bean, Paco's and Martin's.

Guest: Heather Schatz, senior producer of First Coast Connect and Edible Northeast Florida contributor.
