The scoreboard at TIAA Bank Field after the Jaguars beat the Titans on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023.

It’s been nothing but jubilation across the city after the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night at home, clinching the AFC South title and moving on to the playoffs.

Another big game is coming up this weekend.

Our own Josh Torres is here to talk about everything from the scene this weekend to what to expect in the playoffs.

Diversity efforts

Just after Christmas, the governor’s office requested that public colleges and universities in Florida file reports about expenses related to programs involving DEI, or diversity, equity and inclusion.

At least one institution, the University of North Florida, has interpreted the request as requiring data on all courses and instructors teaching these topics.

A national organization dedicated to defending free expression calls the governor’s move troubling.

Guest: Jeremy Young, senior manager, free expression and education, at PEN America.

Human trafficking

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and Florida is the third-highest state where human trafficking occurs. It includes sex trafficking but also trafficking for domestic and agricultural servitude.

A free event is coming up in St. Johns County to inform the public about human trafficking.

Guest: Linda Andiric of the St. Augustine branch of the American Association of University Women.

'An American Story'

Kwame Alexander, the No. 1 New York Times bestselling author, will visit Jacksonville as part of a 10-city nationwide tour for his new book, "An American Story."

This bold picture book explains American slavery through the voice of a teacher struggling to help her students understand its place in history.

Guest: Kwame Alexander.
