Florida has become one of the most unaffordable places in America to live, according to a report looking at housing prices across the country.

A number of factors are driving the skyrocketing rents we’ve been seeing for some time now across the Sunshine State.

Guest: Tim Gibbons, editor of the Jacksonville Business Journal.

Getting JAXPORT to net-zero

JAXPORT recently won a federal grant of $47 million, part of the Inflation Reduction Act signed by President Joe Biden, to help reduce its carbon emissions to net-zero by 2050 — the target set by climate scientists.

Jacksonville-based Crowley Maritime will administer the funds.

Guest: Meaghan Atkinson, vice president of sustainability at Crowley.

City Council candidate Alberta Hipps

A familiar name and face around town is jumping back into the local political arena.

Alberta Hipps is running for Jacksonville City Council District 14. If she wins, it won’t be her first time sitting on that body.

Guest: Alberta Hipps, City Council candidate.

Artists in residence program

Local jazz musician John Lumpkin is creating artists in residence programs for talented performers in Jacksonville. It’s part of his John Lumpkin Institute.

Guest: John Lumpkin, musician.
