There's a new effort to save historic buildings in Jacksonville, especially ones situated outside Downtown.
City Councilman At Large Matt Carlucci is proposing legislation that he calls REHAB — for "Restore Endangered Historic Adaptable Buildings."
Carlucci developed the idea in response to plans to demolish the former Ford Motor Co. plant in the Tallyrand area of Jacksonville. The legislation would set up a half-million-dollar trust fund for buildings outside Downtown boundaries.
