Duval is Florida’s eviction capital

Findlaw

A new report finds that Duval County is the eviction filing capital of the state — and it has a “slumlord problem.” We talk to researchers at the University of North Florida about the role city policies and multifamily rental properties play in local housing patterns.

Guests:

  • David Jaffee, director of the Jax Rental Housing Project at the University of North Florida.
  • Katelyn Renzi, sociology and political science student at UNF.

And, exploring the “Lost Springs” of North Florida. An artist tells us the story of the 20 springs buried by the largest unfinished public works project in U.S. history.

Guest:

  • Matt Keene, journalist and filmmaker, Lost Springs: An Artist’s Journey into Florida’s Abandoned Springs.

Then, we'll preview two upcoming Juneteenth celebrations.

The first, The Voice of My People, is a premiere performance of a new work by gospel composer M Roger Holland and will be staged at St. John’s Cathedral on Saturday.

The second is L.O.V.E. Fest, a Juneteenth celebration of rapping, dance, song, DJing, art and vendors.
