Youth piano competition
And, piano prodigies compete to perform at the 2026 Lift Every Voice and Sing Festival. For the second year, The Friends of the Brentwood Library are hosting the James Weldon Johnson and J. Rosamond Johnson Youth Piano Competition, honoring the legacy of Jacksonville’s most famous songwriting siblings. The event commemorates the 126th anniversary of Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing, also known as the Black national anthem, which was written by James Weldon Johnson and scored by his brother for a celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. The deadline to enter the competition is Feb. 3. The winning pianists will perform at 10 a.m. Feb. 7 at the Jacksonville Main Library.
