A TV anchor and her dad tell the story of St. Augustine

From a pet dog discovered a thousand years after his death to the river named for a mass murder, we explore the lesser known pieces of St. Augustine’s past with a local father-daughter team. He’s an author; she’s a TV anchor; and they’re both obsessed with Florida history. Their latest project is The Mystique of Spanish ‘La Florida,’ detailing the Ancient City’s Spanish colonial past.

Then, we explore some of the more than 30 donations made to the Jacksonville History Center Archives in 2024. Among them: a portfolio of local music history collected by former WAPE disc jockey John Ferree. WAPE aired its first show on AM 690 in Jacksonville in 1958 with a signal strong enough to reach from Key West to Washington, D.C. It subsequently moved to 95.1 on the FM dial.

These newly donated pieces will be available to view at the organization's annual Gingerbread Extravaganza.
