Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew appeared before the media on Monday for the first time since an altercation at the Conch House in St. Augustine.
Jones-Drew is accused of sucker-punching a security guard at the restaurant. His attorney says Jones-Drew has done nothing wrong.
But on Monday, Jones-Drew repeatedly said, on the advice of his attorneys, he would have nothing to say about what happened May 25, calling it "an unfortunate situation."
He has not been charged with a crime, and as of last week he had not spoken to the St. Augustine Police Department. Jones-Drew would not say if he had spoken to the police since then. The police have forwarded all their information regarding the incident to the State Attorney's Office.
Jones-Drew is in town for this week's mandatory mini-camp, but his foot injury hasn't healed well enough for him to participate. He does expect to be ready for full preseason camp when it opens next month.
