The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville will be home to two professional teams next year.
The Jacksonville Armada Football Club announced today it will make its home there for at least the next three years.
The baseball grounds are substantially smaller than EverBank Field where, last month, 52,000 fans watched the U.S. men's national soccer team's final friendly match before the World Cup.
Armada owner Mark Frisch said the park is a perfect fit for the team.
"This venue is 9,000 to 10,000 seats so it provides you with that nice intimate feeling you want at a soccer match versus putting 10,000 people in a large stadium. It doesn’t feel the same. The fan experience isn’t quite the same.”
The Armada will play twenty home matches a year at the baseball grounds starting next February. Season tickets went on sale Friday.
