It’s all about the golf this week in Ponte Vedra Beach.
The Players Championship gets going Thursday morning at Sawgrass.
According to WJCT sports contributor Cole Pepper, 46 of the world’s top 50 golfers will be competing for a share of the 10-$10.5 million purse.
As for a prediction? Pepper shared his thoughtsMonday on First Coast Connect.
“This tournament is about ball striking — it’s about the second ball," he said. " … Long drivers do get some advantage but it’s not just long drivers that have won this tournament through the years and Jason Day has a fantastic all-around game. I think Jason Day will win the Players Championship.”
Two days of practice rounds get underway Tuesday at Sawgrass. The first round of competition starts at 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
Traffic will be heavy in and around the beaches — especially before play gets underway and after it wraps up in late afternoon.
Shuttle service between downtown Jacksonville and the TPC will be available starting Wednesday.
