Dorothy Lee, aka "Miss Dot," holds Trouper, the blind raccoon.

Trouper, the blind raccoon, captured the heart of Dorothy Lee (aka Miss Dot) several years ago.

Miss Dot is a wildlife rehabilitator, who fought to save Trouper's life after he was attacked by a golfer as a wild baby raccoon. He is now 9 years old, and though he's blind, he has a mission to help other animals asthe official wildlife ambassador of the Wildlife Education Project.

 

The Wildlife Education Project is a non-profit that seeks to instill a lifelong respect for all living things and the environment.Miss Dot and Trouper join Gulf Coast Live to talk about the project's efforts throughTrouper's educational appearances with Miss Dot throughout the state of Florida and more.

Julie Glenn is the host of Gulf Coast Live. She has been working in southwest Florida as a freelance writer since 2007, most recently as a regular columnist for the Naples Daily News. She began her broadcasting career in 1993 as a reporter/anchor/producer for a local CBS affiliate in Quincy, Illinois. After also working for the NBC affiliate, she decided to move to Parma, Italy where she earned her Master’s degree in communication from the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Her undergraduate degree in Mass Communication is from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
