An effort to make Tallahassee a retiree destination is back on track. The newly re-launched Choose Tallahassee campaign relies heavily on word-of-mouth driven by social media.

During the campaign roll-out, Choose Tallahassee CEO Gregg Patterson stressed the area has lots of things to attract so-called “golden-agers.”

“You got sporting events, culture, the arts, I’m into outdoors and we’ve got the best green ways and parks.”

But one thing missing in recent years has been a marketing campaign to lure more retired boomers to Florida’s Capital City. That has now changed with a multi-faceted plan from the local firm of BowStern.

“We’re unique. We’re not a governmental entity, we’re not The Chamber. We’re a group of entities that have come together to build this marketing plan to attract boomers to come to Tallahassee,” Patterson emphasized, adding more than two-thirds of the group’s marketing money is coming from the local private sector.
