The Leon County School District has named new principals for Gilchrist Elementary and Deerlake Middle Schools.

The move comes after the current Gilchrist principal remains on leave after he reported being in a relationship with a teacher.

Deerlake Middle School’s Scotty Crowe will takeover Gilchrist from David Solz. He was put on  administrative leave with pay last week after disclosing to the district that he was in a relationship with a teacher he supervises.

The change is going into effect immediately.

The district says an investigation into Solz is ongoing. Depending on the outcome, he could be reinstated at another school. School board member Alva Striplin has called on the board to address relationships at its Tuesday meeting.

Meanwhile, Stephen Mills will become head principal at Deerlake. He was assistant principal at Godby.
