Leon County Commission Race Recount Underway

Rick Minor, candidate for Leon County Commission, won the vote with 50.43 percent.

A County Commission race is headed for a recount, the Leon County Supervisor of Elections announced Friday.

The recount for Leon County commission district three is underway. Following Tuesday’s primary, Rick Minor garnered just over 50 percent of the vote, thereby winning the seat. But his victory is within the margin for a recount says Leon County Supervisor of Elections Mark Earley.

The canvassing board met Friday to count the final ballots and finalize the unofficial results. Though unlikely, should the results shrink Minor’s lead to less than 50 percent plus one vote, he’ll enter a runoff with runner-up Emily Fritz in November.
