Voting in Florida’s midterm election ended a week ago, but ballot contests remain anything but settled. Automatic machine recounts began Sunday across Florida in three high-profile state-wide contests: Florida’s gubernatorial, U.S. Senate and Commissioner of Agriculture races were all too close to call.
All of Florida’s 67 counties have until Thursday afternoon to complete their recounts. We’ll take a closer look at the current recount efforts and legal challenges surrounding the process.
Plus, Florida voters approved all but one of the constitutional amendment proposals on last week’s ballot, including a measure to restore the voting rights to most felons in the state. We’ll take a closer look at the impact of those amendments, and we’ll get insight and analysis on a broad scope of ballot measures with today’s panel of political experts. We're joined by FGCU Political Science Professors, Dr. Roger Green and Dr. Peter Bergerson, Tampa Bay Times' Tallahassee bureau chief Steve Bousquet, and Neil Volz from the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, which was instrumental in the passage of Amendment 4.
