Husband, Caregiver and Author Shares Details of New Memoir

When married coupleGeorgeand Carol Shannon vacationed atCabo San Lucas, neither one of them imagined that their trip would end the way it did. Carol suffered a debilitating stroke on the last day of the vacation, which radically changed the course of their lives. George co-wrote about the experience that made him his wife’s caregiver with his son, Chad Patrick Shannon, in the new book“The Best Seven Years of My Life: The Story of an Unlikely Caregiver.”

 

George joins us in the studio to discuss the topic of caregiving and the details of his new book.

Julie Glenn is the host of Gulf Coast Live. She has been working in southwest Florida as a freelance writer since 2007, most recently as a regular columnist for the Naples Daily News. She began her broadcasting career in 1993 as a reporter/anchor/producer for a local CBS affiliate in Quincy, Illinois. After also working for the NBC affiliate, she decided to move to Parma, Italy where she earned her Master’s degree in communication from the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Her undergraduate degree in Mass Communication is from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
