Leon County Superintendent Rocky Hanna warned the school board in an email Friday about a potential lawsuit from his predecessor Jackie Pons. Pons wanted the district to rehire him as a principal after losing his job as superintendent to Hanna in the 2016 election.
As reported in the Tallahassee Democrat, a policy written in 2012 directed the district to rehire past elected officials. But the school board voted in December to remove the language.
Pons plans to sue the district if the employment dispute cannot be resolved through mediation.
