At issue is whether Andrew Gillum accepted gifts in 2016, including a ticket to the popular play “Hamilton,” a boat ride around New York Harbor and a trip to Costa Rica.

Back in January, the Florida Commission on Ethics found probable cause for the case to move forward.

Gillum is contesting the accusations. His lawyer Barry Richard says Gillum did nothing to violate state ethics law.

“I never predict what’s going to happen with the court, but I know that he has no violation and I think that the evidence will establish that,” Richard said.

The allegations were brought up during Gillum’s gubernatorial campaign in 2018. Gillum lost to Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
