Ascension St. Vincent’s

Former patients have sued Ascension St. Vincent’s hospital, alleging that physician R. David Heekin botched surgeries while he had health problems.

Patients noticed Dr. Richard David Heekin's shaky hands, difficulty walking and slurred speech as early as 2016, according to allegations in 365 lawsuits, the Florida Times-Union found.

The $175 million hospital, under construction since December 2020, will open July 6. A medical office building next to the hospital opened Monday.
