Burton, a 24-year veteran of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, says she faced a difficult campaign after finishing second in November.

Burton, who lost to Sheriff T.K. Waters in November, formally filed to run in the March election, but she says she has not made a final decision.

The poll by the Public Opinion Research Lab at the University of North Florida shows Republican T.K. Waters with 48% of the vote and Democrat Lakesha Burton with 43%. But 9% — enough to sway the outcome — said they did not know how they would vote or they did not answer.
