09/14/15: Local Stores Versus National Chains; Robert Macomber; Drive Electric Rally; Cole Pepper

The last remaining original tenants at the Pablo Plaza Shopping Center are moving to make way for big box stores like Whole Foods. While there is much excitement over the new chain coming to the area, some are mourning the loss of these locally owned shops as they look for a new spot to do business. We speak with writer Ron Whittington, who’s been covering the transition for the Florida Times-Union, and Ken Rahaim Juro, owner of Rahaim's Walls & Floors at the Pablo Plaza Shopping Center.

Author Robert Macomber joins us with a preview of his lecture at the Florida Heritage Book Festival later this month.

This week marks a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of plug-in vehicles and electric cars. National Drive Electric Week is being marked here on the First Coast with an interactive event later this week. Jeff Sheffield, Executive Director of North Florida TPO, and Peter King, Customer Solutions Program Manager for JEA, join us with more.

And our regular sports contributor Cole Pepper recaps the Jacksonville Jaguars first game of the season.
