Around 1,000 teachers from across the state are headed to downtown Jacksonville this weekend for the second annual TEACH conference.
The one-day event organized by WJCT Public Broadcasting includes the requisite speakers, workshops and break-out sessions.
What sets it apart from other gatherings of its type is the time during the day that teachers will have to kick back and talk shop.
Circe LeNoble is WJCT’s Grants and Education Outreach Manager.
“We really want teachers to have that opportunity to engage with each other. We have a twitter hash-tag: #TEACHJax13. So they’ll be able to communicate that way and we’ll be tweeting live and we also have a Facebook page for TEACH and so there’ll be communication, you know, electronically and in person.”
LeNoble says the topics at Saturday’s TEACH Conference range from classroom development and Common Core to leadership and technology.
Tickets are still available for the event. For more information go to wjct.org/teach.
