The Bet Is On For Sunday Between Jacksonville And Buffalo Mayors

Brian Hughes
/
City of Jacksonville

Ahead of Sunday’s playoff game between the Jaguars and Buffalo Bills at Everbank Field, Mayor Lenny Curry has placed a friendly wager between himself and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.

Via a skype conversation on Friday Curry wagered some Firehouse Sub sandwiches and Intuition Ale craft beer against Mayor Brown’s Buffalo chicken wings and beer from a Buffalo-based brewery.

And it seems the Jacksonville and Buffalo zoos are not averse to a little bet as well.

In the event of a Jags loss to the Bulls Sunday, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens promises to make a contribution to the North American Bison Coalition and send some chocolate covered popcorn to the Buffalo Zoo.

And if the Jags win, Buffalo pledges to contribute to the Rupununi Wildlife Research Unit and treat the Jacksonville Zoo to a uniquely Buffalo sweet: sponge candy.

The game is sold out. It airs on CBS Sunday at 1 p.m.
