Catalyst Brands Southbank Area Apartments Project As SoBa

The 147-unit, four-story community at 1444 Home St. will be named the Soba Apartments.

Catalyst Development Partners announced that it will name its Home Street multifamily project the SoBa Apartments.

SoBa is the shortened “South Bank.”

Our Jacksonville Daily Record news partner reports the 147-unit, four-story community at 1444 Home St. formerly was referred to as both the San Marco Apartments and Home Street Apartments.

The property is on the Southbank near Interstate 95.

“SoBa was designed for the tech-friendly, pet-loving and health-conscious urbanite,” Catalyst Development Principal Jorge Sardinas said in a news release.

He said SoBa was the front door of the Southbank neighborhood, “which is transforming from a 9-to-5 office-centric environment to a 24/7 urban, millennial neighborhood close to all the major points of interest Jacksonville has to offer.”

SoBa, which is under construction, will feature one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 612 to 1,151 square feet in size.

Atlanta-based Catalyst Development broke ground in June. The first residents are expected to move in during summer 2019.

Completion of all units and amenities is projected for the first quarter of 2020.

Rental rates were not announced.

Interior finishes will include gourmet kitchens, stainless steel appliances, full-size washers and dryers, and balconies and patios at most units.

Shared amenities include a 24-hour fitness club; co-working spaces; a coffee café; resort-style pool; summer kitchens with gas grill stations; a fire pit; garden daybeds; and outdoor yoga.

Summit Contracting Group Inc. is the contractor for the apartment building and a three-story parking garage at a construction cost of $15 million.

Catalyst Partners paid $2.45 million in May for almost 1.92 acres at 1444 Home St. and 0.81 acres at 1059 Kipp Ave.
