Millions of entrepreneurs start new companies in America each year, but 95 percent of them fail.Hundreds of creators are showcasing their ideas here One Spark this week. It’s evidence of Jacksonville’s growing reputation as a magnet for startups.

But there are plenty of pitfalls on the road to success. For example, when startups rehearse their pitch to investors, they often overlook the importance of selecting the right partner.

Turning around a failed concept into something that might actually have a chance of success is tricky too.

As venture capitalists, jurors and voters evaluate all the projects on display at One Spark, there are people who are sharing important advice for creators seeking crowdfunding.

Chris Markl is the CEO and of Any Inc., an online marketplace for buying and selling corporations, non-profits and startups of any size. The company itself is exhibiting at One Spark.

Markl and Jacksonville intellectual property attorney Steve Kelly joined Melissa Ross to discuss how to successfully launch a startup.
