Some Jacksonville residents say they’ve received misleading text messages about the JEA straw ballot question.
The texts claim that selling JEA is on the ballot - it is not - and it urges people to vote No on the straw ballot.

Residents are not voting whether or not to sell JEA.
Rather, the question is whether voters should have to approve any potential sale of more than 10 percent of JEA. A no vote would mean the City Council alone would get to decide without any input from the public outside of public comments and calls to Council members.
Councilman Garrett Dennis has taken to Twitter to publicly accuse Mayor Lenny Curry and members of his administration of being behind the misleading texts.

Curry spokeswoman Marsha Oliver told WJCT News that she confirmed “that the [Curry] administration has no information or involvement in this.”
WJCT News reached out to Dennis for additional information but had not received a response by the time of this story’s publication.
