Florida State football begins in earnest next week as the team practices at an off-limits, off-campus location. The team's top coaches met with the media on Sunday, Aug. 5  to talk about the Seminole's evolving game plan, and other matters.

Few things have caused more excitement than the recent announcement that Taggert was bringing back legendary defensive guru Mickey Andrews as a "special assistant."

"It's great to have someone like that who's been here and seen it all," commented Taggert, adding that as long as he's been a head coach, he always had an experienced advisor at his side.

The Andrews decision was a move that even excited the Seminole's new Defensive Coordinator Harlon Barnett.

"That's awesome! Awesome!!! There's nothing like getting that wisdom," Barnett said.

But a big question still unanswered is who will be the starting quarterback from among three contenders? Offensive Coordinator Walt Bell said the competition for the job continues.

"The job description of quarterback is make the other ten guys better."

But Head Coach Taggert expected to have an answer to that question by Labor Day. The Seminoles home opening against Virginia Tech is September 3rd.
