It's Not the Clash Song: "Rock the Casbah" Examines Big Changes in the Middle East

Robin Wright

The events of theArab Springwere momentous and for many, exciting to watch as they unfolded in the Middle East. So what now?

That's the domain of acclaimed author and foreign correspondent Robin Wright. She's in town this week to discuss her book, Rock the Casbah: Rage and Rebellion Across the Muslim World.

Wright spoke Tuesday evening at a World Affairs Council of Jacksonville event at UNF, and before that talk, she told our listeners sees more change and upheaval in the Middle East.

According to Wright, "The most interesting trend we're seeing is the rise of the right, or religious right, in this region. As dictators are overthrown, that creates a power vacuum, and right now these groups are filling it."

Wright adds, the international community is watching closely to see how Iran responds to pressure over its nuclear program.
