Jacksonville Offers Weekend Summer Nights Program At 5 Parks

Visit Jacksonville

Kids and teenagers in Jacksonville’s more violent neighborhoods have a safe place to hang out on the weekends this summer, courtesy of the city.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry said the free program is called Summer Night Lights.

“It’s an anti-gang, anti-crime initiative implemented by and managed by our parks department just to give young people a safe, fun place to go on Friday and Saturday night,” Curry said.

Summer Night Lights provides kids with activities like basketball, music, dancing and art.

The program is being offered at 11 public parks on Jacksonville’s North and West sides on Friday nights from 7 to 10, and Saturday nights from 7 to 11, through August 4.

More information is available on the city’s Summer Night Lights webpage.
