Jacksonville Skyway Staying Open Late This Week

Downtown Vision, Inc.

Downtown Jacksonville’s hotels are booming this week thanks to several conventions and family reunions happening in the city.

With the extra travelers, Visit Jacksonville has requested longer hours on the Skyway tram system.

Jacksonville Transportation Authority spokeswoman Leigh-Ann Rassler says the trains will run from 6 a.m. until midnight Tuesday through Friday this week.

Rassler said, “This particular week here in Jacksonville, we’re thankful to have so many people coming to visit our great city, and JTA is happy to be able to provide some transportation for them.”

Normal weekday hours are 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. And like always, rides on the Skyway this week are free of charge.

Rassler says the JTA board voted to provide free Skyway rides through September of this year. It will then re-evaluate whether to start charging a fare.
