Left to right: TaxSlayer Chaiman David Long, Sergeant Toney Simmons, Deputy Commander Luis Parrales, TaxSlayer Chief Marketing Officer Chris Moloney and TaxSlayer Bowl COO Alan Verlander gather in front of Duval County's Veterans Memorial Wall.

This year 5,000 military families will have the chance to attend the annual TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville, as well as a post-game concert at the Daily’s Place Amphitheater for free.

The military-appreciation program is honoring active-duty service members, retirees and veterans.

TaxSlayer Spokesman Chris Moloney announced in front of the Veterans Memorial Wall outside EverBank Field Monday that this is the first time the program has been offered since TaxSlayer became the bowl’s title sponsor in 2011.

TaxSlayer CEO Brian Rhodes said in a news release the company appreciates the military and wanted to give back to the service member community.

“TaxSlayer is an extremely proud supporter of the military,” Rhodes said. “Honoring these heroes with a unique game day experience is our way of giving back to a community that gives back to America every day.”

Military members can register for tickets at www.taxslayerbowl.com and request up to four tickets with a valid military or veteran ID.

The college football bowl game will take place at EverBank Field, Saturday, Dec. 30 at 12 p.m. The game will feature a team from the Southeastern Conference against a team from either the Big Ten Conference or Atlantic Coast Conference.

The concert will immediately follow the game. The musical act has not yet been announced.
