Mountains of tires were collected at 2014's buyback event.

The city of Jacksonville continues its campaign for cleaner neighborhoods by offering cash for trash this weekend.

Saturday will mark the fifth annual Tire & Sign Buyback.

Duval County residents with a valid identification, such as a driver’s license, can exchange up to 40 illegal snipe signs for 50 cents a sign.

Snipe signs are commonly found in the public right-of-way, placed into the ground with thin metal stakes. They are commonly used to advertise a variety of businesses or causes.

The city is also buying back up to ten old tires per person at two dollars each.

The buyback starts at 8 a.m. Saturday morning in Parking Lot J at EverBank Field.

It’s part of the city’s ongoing Fight Blight initiative.

More information is available on this city of Jacksonville webpage.
