Tallahassee state Senator, Bill Montford, has picked a date to decide whether he will step away from his Senate seat and run for mayor. When speaking to reporters at an event on Wednesday, Montford said he would have his decision by the weekend.
“Because of a number of issues, I could not focus on that," Montford said. “So, I’ve taken a few days off here. And my plan is by this weekend I’ll have a decision."
"By this weekend," asked a reporter.
"Yes," replied Montford.
Montford has been part of Florida’s Senate for the past ten years. He is highly respected by both parties, and is one of three Democrats to hold a committee chairmanship. His term limit will be reached in 2020.
