The Gingerbread Extravaganza is a Jacksonville holiday tradition.
The Jacksonville Historical Society’s annual confectionery community of whimsical landscapes opens this Thursday, November 29.
Executive Director Alan Bliss said on First Coast Connect Tuesday you’ll find some significant Jacksonville landmarks on display, built with amazing creativity.
“There are examples of houses from past years that have been preserved ….and some of the stars will be exhibited at an honor walk display at the front of the church sanctuary with some of the notable houses of previous years,” said Bliss.

Chefs, architects, culinary students and families spent hundreds of hours building the edible gingerbread houses.
The fundraiser is at the Jacksonville Historical Society in the Old St. Andrews Church, 317 A. Philip Randolph Blvd., across the street from the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena downtown.
For the first time, it’s going to stay open for 3-days after Christmas. Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for kids.
