Weekend Warriors: Art, Zombies And More Zombies

http://augustine.com/venue/plaza-de-la-constitucion

As the work week comes to an end, let WJCT interns Allie George, Kelsey Oates and Sarah De Nicolais be your guides for art, culture and fun on the First Coast this weekend.

First Friday Art Walk

For those who have always wanted to check out St. Augustine’s many art galleries but haven’t gotten around to it yet, First Friday Art Walks offer the perfect chance. This Friday night, nearly 30 galleries will be open from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will offer guests food, drinks, live entertainment, and, of course, art. Admission is free and Old Town Trolleys and Ripley’s Sightseeing Trains will offer complimentary shuttle service to many of the locations. Guests can gather at the Plaza de la Constitucion in downtown St. Augustine or at this week’s special reception at 10 Aviles Street.

Zombie Run

The walking dead have made their way to Jacksonville. This 5k apocalyptic race will be held at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center, 13611 Normandy Boulevard. Instead of racing the clock, you and your team will be racing "flesh-eating" zombies. There are many paths along the way, so be careful because your 5k race could take an unexpected turn and become a 10k if you chose the wrong one. To register as a runner or zombie, be sure to visit their website. Grab your fastest running shoes, most fearless friends, and be sure that the zombies do get a hold of you. Make it to the finish line and you'll receive the infamous survivor medal.
