University of North Florida’s “Pokemon Go” Tournament

 

Calling all Pokemon trainers. Come out to the University of North Florida 6 p.m. Friday to take part in a “Pokemon Go” tournament. With more than 40 Pokestops and constant lures, this is a hunt you do not want to miss. Participants must register before Friday at 5 p.m. Parking will be in the arena parking garage, and the registration slip will act as your permit. There will be two competitions and prizes will be awarded. Bring your team, a portable charger and be prepared to catch them all.

JAXCOT: JAX Around the World

Explore different cultures from across the world in the heart of Jacksonville Beach this Saturday. Food trucks, vendors and music will represent corners of the world many of us may not have previously been exposed to. JAXCOT will be held at the SeawalkPavillion beginning at 4 p.m. Admission is free to all.

'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' release

Celebrate the release of the newest novel by J.K. Rowling at the San Marco Bookstore. A pre-ordered copy of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is $29.95 and includes admission. Enjoy Harry Potter trivia, a costume contest and take photos with Harry Potter and other wizards. The event begins at 11 a.m on Sunday morning.

Elvis 60th Anniversary of Florida Performance

Fall in love with Elvis all over again as two world-class impersonators come together to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s 1956 Florida Theatre concert. Join Mike Albert, Scot Bruce and the Big E Band as they perform The King's classic.The two performers will trace Elvis from his rockabilly days to his final recordings the Florida Theatre. The event will be on 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are available through the Florida Theatre website and start at $29.50.

Automaton Block Party

The Automaton’s Clothing Line will be launched at the Block Skate Supply event 4 p.m. Saturday. The clothing line uses an environmentally friendly process of screen printing to make t-shirts by hand with water-based ink. This unique clothing line highlights the work of local artists. Bring the whole squad and enjoy beat-bumping music, delicious food trucks and, of course, the ultimate skate jam.
