An exciting new stage show celebrating the 30th anniversary of the most iconic films of the 1980's has come to Jacksonville.Flashdance: The Musical is on stage at the Times-Union Center downtown through Sunday, Dec. 15.

Fans of the film will remember the storyline, told with slight adjustments in the stage production.

Alex Owens is a Pittsburgh steel mill welder by day, a bar dancer by night. But Alex has dreams of one day becoming a professional performer.

The original Paramount Pictures movie became a pop culture sensation, earning more than $150 million at the box office and garnering even more fans through its memorable Grammy Award-winning soundtrack.

Alison Ewing, who plays Tess in the stage show, said the show appeals to fans of the film.

"All of the hits fans will remember from the film are part of our show," she said. "Everything from "I Love Rock & Roll" to "Gloria," "Manhunt," and "What A Feeling!"

Sixteen brand new songs have been written for the stage version. Ewing said the recreation of the film's famous 'water scene' is a "show stopper."
