At Riverside’s Bold Bean, barista Chris Jackson works the counter Thursday afternoon.
He shakes an iced latte on this hot Florida day. The coffee shop has brick walls adorned with paintings from local artists arranged between square windows, supplying plenty of natural light for the tables of customers on laptops.
After opening this first cafe in December 2011, Bold Bean is now planning to open its fourth sometime in July. The other locations are in Murray Hill and Jacksonville Beach.
Managing partner Zack Burnett said the new location will be a departure. Bold Bean’s always been a neighborhood shop with late hours, but this downtown shop — to be located in the lobby of the Everbank building — will serve a workday crowd. The building closes at 7 p.m..
“We just always like to get into new projects and learn about new stuff so this is going to be a different crowd and kind of a different flow and that’s really what interests us is just doing something new and always challenging ourselves,” Burnett said.
Burnett said Bold Bean offers people an experience, not just coffee.
“So for me it’s going to be really cool downtown to be able to offer that break in the middle of somebody's workday,” he said.
Construction on the new shop begins next week.
