Traffic Alert: Portion of North Arlington Expressway Service Road To Close For Two Months

JEA

Starting Friday, a section of the service road along the North Arlington Expressway will be shut down while J-E-A crews install a new water main.

The new pipeline is part of the utility’s Total Water Management Plan.

J-E-A spokesperson Gerri Boyce says it will make it easier to move water from the Floridan Aquifer on the west side of the St. Johns River where it’s more plentiful to the east side of the river where there’s more demand.

“This is to avoid any salt water intrusion in the wells on the east and south side of the river.”

The pipe connecting the east and west sides of the St. Johns was installed last year.

Both lanes of the service road between Arlington Road and Townsend Boulevard as well as two exit ramps are expected to be closed from Friday, 12 July 2013 to Friday, 13 September 2013.

Detour routes:

Eastbound traffic: north to Arlington Road, to Lillian Road, Lillian Road to Lone Star Road and south on Townsend Boulevard to the North Arlington Road Expressway Service Road.

Westbound traffic: north on Townsend Boulevard to Lone Star Road, Lone Star Road to Lillian Street, Lillian Street to Arlington Road and south to the North Arlington Expressway Service Road.

Detour signs will be posted to help drivers get around.
