House committee shoots down Jax port deepening amendment: The U.S. House Rules Committee failed to pass an amendment to the Water Resource Development Act to add deepening of the shipping channel in the St. John River onto the full House for consideration. (Florida Times-Union)

Florida Blue to cancel policies to comply with Obamacare: Health insurer Florida Blue will notify 300,000 customers, about 80 percent of their individual policy holders, that their plans have been canceled to comply with the Affordable Care Act. (Jacksonville Business Journal)

Uber livery car service coming to Jacksonville: The Jacksonville City Council passed a measure to allowmobile taxi service Uber to start operating in the city. There is no word on when the service will become available. (News4Jax)

Yoho stands by vote against reopening government, raising debt ceiling: At an event in Monday, Florida U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho told the African American Accountability Alliance that raising the debt ceiling does not help the U.S. economy. (WUFT)

Bill Young's widow asks Crist to skip funeral: Beverly Young, the widow of recently deceased Florida U.S. Rep. Bill Young, has asked former governor and current gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist not to attend Young's funeral on Thursday. (Miami Herald)
