Winter Storm's Wrath Reaches Jacksonville International Airport
Severe winter weather in the central and Northeastern U.S. is causing problems for passengers at Jacksonville International Airport.Several flights heading into or out of Jacksonville have been canceled or delayed.
The winter storm has dumped more than a foot of snow in some places from the Midwest to New England.
During the day on Thursday many flights to major airports in Chicago, Newark, Boston and New York were canceled.
JIA spokesperson Debbie Jones says more cancelations are likely as the storm moves across the country.
"Anybody who is traveling in those areas or if they are waiting for someone to arrive from those areas should check the status of their flight," she said. "They can do that either with their airline or on our web site at FlyJAX.com."
The snow will be followed by some of the lowest temperatures in years. Jones says airlines will work with passengers from the canceled flights to eventually get them to their destination.
