One In Five Floridians in Poverty? PolitiFact Says Yes

A half-century after President Lyndon Johnson declared a war on poverty, the nation is taking stock of victories and losses.It was 50 years ago that President Johnson declared a "war on poverty" in America.

Florida U.S. Senator Marco Rubio says it hasn't worked — despite spending $20 trillion on welfare and other government programs meant to lift people out of poverty.

Rubio says Florida is particular hard-hit by failed "War on Poverty" programs.
