Dust off your resumes because companies will be on the search for prospective employees next week.  Mayor Alvin Brown and Congresswoman Corrine Brown are hosting a citywide job fair on June 16.

There will be more than 150 companies and service providers looking to hire, including Bank of America, Florida Blue and Winn-Dixie.

City spokesperson James Croft said they expect to exceed last years attendance of 14,000 people.

He said that despite many job applications being online, the job fair experience still works.

“Face-to face is still relevant. While a lot of the application processes are online, having that face-to-face contact with someone that you’re going to be working face-to-face with is still very important,” Croft said.

“Job seekers should really brush up on their networking skills, their interview skills, their first impressions, resumes and their presentation and elevator pitch to set themselves apart.”

The job fair is free and begins at 9 a.m. at the Prime Osborn Convention Center on Monday, June 16.

Job seekers are encouraged to show up early for job-readiness workshops that begin at 7:45 a.m.  The classes will include interview tips, resume preparation and social media skills.

At 8:30 a.m. Mayor Brown and Congresswoman Brown will give a speech before the fair begins.

Croft said to show up dressed to impress with a resume and a smile.
