Vietnam Veterans of America

Officials in Washington DC have approved plans for a new monument to Vietnam War veterans on the First Coast to be built in Jacksonville National Cemetery.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1046 in Jacksonville designed and raised funds for the new monument.

"I think this is going to help in identify Vietnam veterans and what they did and how they did it with honor and dignity," said Chapter Vice President Les Bertrand.

Bertrand anticipates the monument to be unveiled on March 28, 2015. He says there are about 2,000 Vietnam veterans around the First Coast.

Vietnam Veterans of America has chapters in Duval, Nassau, Clay and St. Johns County.
