Northside Park Gets Makeover Thanks To Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes employees give Garden City Elementary School Park a makeover.

Garden City Elementary School Park on Jacksonville’s Northside got a makeover this month that’s largely due to a $95,000 grant from Mercedes-Benz USA.

Mercedes-Benz General Manager of Engineering Services David Tait said that funds a brand new playground.

Mercedes-Benz assembled a team of employees this month who planted trees, trimmed overgrown shrubbery and replanked the bleachers at the park.

“We’re really happy to be here in the City of Jacksonville are we’re really happy to do our part to give back to the community and we’re going to continue to do that,” Tait said. “We really feel that’s important and it’s really built into our DNA.”

Garden City Elementary School Park is just a few miles from Mercedes-Benz USA’s Quality Evaluation Center.

Tait said his team is working with the city on the park. For instance, the city refurbished the restrooms and Mercedes-Benz volunteers painted them.
