Jacksonville’s Museum of Science and History (MOSH) has unveiled a fascinating new exhibit looking at early Native American life on the First Coast, before and after European contact. The exhibit, called Uncovering the Past, combines the archaeology, history, science and land preservation to reveal a comprehensive look at Native American life in what archaeologists refer to as the St. Mary’s Region.
Christy Leonard, Deputy Director at MOSH, and Dr. Keith Ashley, Guest Curator of the exhibit, joined Melissa Ross for a preview.
Dr. Keith Ashley, Ph.D., researcher in the University of North Florida Archaeology Lab, began his training by studying anthropology as an undergraduate student at Auburn University.
He went on to earn a Master's of Science Degree in Anthropology at Florida State University and a Ph.D. in Anthropology at University of Florida.
Today, he uses his training in the field and in the lab to learn more about the lives of Native Americans in Northeast Florida.
The Uncovering the Past exhibit is now on display in The Loft Gallery on the museum's third floor.
