Jacksonville could get a major economic boost after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approved plans to dredge the St. Johns River shipping channel, making way for larger ships at JAXPORT.
The project will now be included in the Water Resources Development Act when Congress votes on the bill next month. While the $600 million project to deepen the channel from 40 to 47 feet plan has been approved, it still needs funding to move forward.
