Local Veterans React To Bergdahl Release

Wikimedia Commons/Sky News

Controversy continues to swirl over the White House prisoner swap that exchanged long-missing U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay.

The move has unleashed a storm of criticism from lawmakers who’ve called President Barack Obama’s move reckless, and even lawless.

Across the country veterans are speaking out on the matter too, calling Bergdahl a deserter and a traitor for apparently walking away from his post.

However, the Obama administration is pushing back, saying Bergdahl was in ailing health and that the U.S. remains committed to leaving no soldier behind.

Local veteran and military expert Charles Fails, who served for five tours in Iraq under Army Command and also served with a Special Forces Unit, and local veteran Bill Carter joined Melissa Ross to discuss the case.
